![]() | | customer review: This is a must have for anyone who hates burnt pie crust edges. No more trying to make makeshift protectors from aluminum foil. | Nordic Ware Danish Aebelskiver Ironby NordicWare (01740) ![]() customer review: I got this pan for an early Christmas gift and I am so in love with it. It was very easy to use. I used two tooth picks to flip the Aebelskiver and I did not bother to oil / butter the pan between each use.
| The mix is easy to make from scratch, so I say go for it. It certainly is a lot cheaper than buying a mix from William Sonoma or some place like that. Here are the fillings that I have tried thus far: sharp cheddar cheese, mince meat, banana walnut, chocolate chip banana, chocolate chip walnut, blueberry, and plain. Cheese is by far my favorite! Be creative - they are so small that it does not matter if the filling is no good you are not out a lot. Norpro Mini Cheesecake Panby Norpro ![]() customer review: These worked great, used about a tablespoon of crust mixture tamped it down then did the usual. They are about two inches across, and it will take 3 pans to do a usual 9 inch recipe. Enjoy. | R & M Pie Bird Set of 2, One Each White and Blackby R & M Industries (7563) ![]() NordicWare Naturals Hi-Dome 10-Inch Pie Pan with Lidby Nordicware (44103) ![]() customer review: OK, I will be to the point. This is a really good pie plate. It is a solid, heavy plate that will not burn your crust. It has a slotted cover so you can pull your pie right from the oven, let it cool just a bit, and then slap the top on it and take it to your friend's house for dinner without steaming the crust soggy. Or to a church pot luck. Or whatever. When you have a good tool, with convenience built in, grab it. You will leave this plate to your kids. It would also make a great shower gift for not a heck of a lot of money. | SCI Scandicrafts Fluted Deep Tart/Quiche Mold, Removable Bottom 10-inch Diameter by 2-inch Deep, Nonstickby Sci Scandicrafts (Q484) ![]() customer review: I also saw this type of pan on Good Eats and of course wanted to replicate the Super Apple Pie recipe of Alton Brown's. I got the pan today and I am very impressed with the quality. The pie is baking now and I can't wait to see the perfect crimped edges and taste it. Having the removable bottom will make for much better presentation during the holidays. In fact I am going to order a few more of this pan for gifts as well as a second one for myself! | Pyrex Grip-Rite 9 1/2 Inch Pie Plate, Clearby Pyrex (1073356) $5.61 customer review: I ordered several of these pie plates for my daughters as they had the look of my mother-in-law's, old fashioned and sturdy. | R & M Black Pie Birdby R&M Industries (7562) ![]() Placed in the centre of a pie, under the crust, this pie bird vents excess heat and steam from the filling, allowing liquids to reduce (concentrating the flavour and cutting the risk of soggy pastry), and supports the top crust. | Black with yellow beak. Oven, microwave, and dishwasher safe. To use the pie bird, line the pie plate with a pastry shell. Place the pie bird into the centre and add the filling around the pie bird. Put a pastry crust on top with a hole for the bird. Pinch the crust around the bird's shoulders allowing the head to stick through the pastry. Follow the directions for baking your pie and serve with the bird in place. Makes a great conversation piece! Fat Daddio's Anodized Aluminum Fluted Tart Pan with Removable Bottom, 9.5 Inch x 1 Inchby Fat Daddio's (PFT-95) ![]() customer review: I bought this tart pan after reading a recommendation for it online. The recommendation said that the tart pan was a great pan for the price, and functioned just as well as much more expensive pans. After using this pan a couple of times, I couldn't agree more.
| I've made a couple of recipes in this pan and its 11 inch sibling, including one pecan tart that boiled over the top of the pan, creating a fantastic, burned sugar mess. I was sure that I would never get the pan clean, since burned on sugar is notoriously hard to clean up, but after about 10 minutes of soaking in cool water, the pan came clean easily, and looks brand new. The brushed aluminum on this pan works much better as a non-stick surface than my actual non-stick bakeware, which starts to show age almost immediately. The bottoms of these pans come out easily, making for easy tart prep and presentation. I would recommend this tart pan and the pans in other sizes in this line to anyone looking for a good sturdy tart pan. This pan works great, and you can't beat the price. It was probably one of the best we've ever made. | Cuisinart Chef's Classic 9-Inch Nonstick Deep-Dish Pie Panby Cuisinart (AMB-9DP) ![]() customer review: I bought these to make my Mom's recipe Chocolate Cream Pie. I had plenty of crust to shape around the edges, and put plenty of fork holes throughout. After baking for 12 minutes, the crust slid halfway down the steep sides of the pan and the upper edges burned, while the bottom center puffed up and didn't bake all the way through. They would probably work fine for fill and bake pies, but I am returning them. | William Bounds Sili Gourmet Reusable Silicone Pie Crust Protector, Redby WILLIAM BOUNDS (08280) ![]() $6.95 customer review: This was an awesome Christmas Gift. I baked a pumpkin pie and it was the first time my shell came out perfect. No dark burnt edging with the silicone shelled on and it washed righ up afterwards. I would recommend this product to anyone who bakes. | Fox Run 3-Inch Wide 1-1/2-Inch Deep Tart Tinby Fox Run (4572) ![]() $0.69 Deep fluted tart tin for fruit tarts and petit fours. | Tinplate. Emile Henry Provencal Fluted 9-Inch Pie Dish, Cerise Redby Emile Henry (336131) ![]() customer review: this is the best pie dish. Forget pyrex and metal. I make an all-butter crust and bake it on the bottom rack of the oven and it comes out perfect every time. I think it's the heavy mass of the ceramic that does it. I've only made 2-crust fruit pies in it thus far, but I expect it will be as good for single-crust pecan, pumpkin, etc., pies. | Pfaltzgraff Winterberry 9-1/2-Inch Perfect Pie Plate with Cardinal Pie Birdby Pfaltzgraff (109 776 00) ![]() customer review: I am determined to make Alton Brown's Super Apple Pie recipe and needed a pie bird. I would have paid $14 just for this bird but got a gorgeous plate, too. The directions on the wrapper are clear--place the bottom piecrust on the plate, place the pie bird in the center, place filling around the bird, make a small hole in the middle of the top crust as you place it over the bird. The bird is bigger than it seems in the picture. The bird was in its own wrapping placed in the pie plate, which was then wrapped with a cardboard sleeve, placed in styrofoam peanuts and shipped quickly from Mega China (ordered 12/12, received 12/17). I will be using this set for Christmas! | Norpro Nonstick Pie Pan Set Of Fourby Norpro (3911) ![]() $8.99 customer review: The pans work well, but are the size of one of those tiny pies sold in the bread aisle. I was looking for something that would serve two, and this barely serves one. More trouble to return than keep, but will give them to my grandkids when they are old enough for mud pies. | Wilton Excelle Elite 4-Inch Round Tart/Quiche Pan, Set of 6by Wilton Industries Inc. (2105-441) ![]() $17.99 customer review: This is a really nice product for individual servings. They have a removable bottom and a nonstick surface which are very helpful. I have used them to make raw tarts, tortes, quiches, and other sumptuous raw desserts. All came out great. Just ordered six more. | | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
