  • customer review: Maybe if this were my 1st bundt pan i might like it. But since it's not I must say that i am disapponted. The only thing good about this pan is the weight. It's nice and heavy. I had my previous bundt pan for years and the non-stick surface was worn so it was time to replace it. The cakes do not release well from this pan and the indentations in the mold of the pan are not deep enough which makes the finished cake not as pretty as it could be or as it was with my older, lesser known brand, pan. You hardly see the indentations in the finihed cake at all. In other words, the cake don't come out cute (if you will!!) And I'm into cute cakes. Also this pan has two pieces which are melded and the imprint of that seam in the finished cake is ugly. I'm surprised this cake pan got such good reviews. I think most people just don't know better. I'll be buying a new pan very soon.

  • customer review: This pan works very well. I made brownies in it for Christmas and just sprinkled powdered sugar on them for a very easy, great-looking holiday treat. NordicWare is always good quality. I especially like a pan I bought from another retailer that is like this one but 12 mini bundts. I just used that one for cornbread muffins and they came out perfect with no washing of the pan required afterward. Stay away from cheap pans and buy NordicWare when you can. That's what I say.

  • customer review: This mum bundt cake pan is simply spectacular. With very little effort it looks like great effort was taken. Perfect for use during Spring and Easter. Pan preparation is the most important step so take a few minutes and do it right. Spray liberally with a cooking spray that contains flour like Bakers Joy then turn the pan upside down on a paper towel to drain out the excess. The another vital step is, once the cake is finished baking, let it cool upright in the pan 10-15 minutes (no shorter or longer) before turning the cake out onto a plate. And, if you want the detail to really pop, use a light cake (yellow, white, spice, etc.) with a very thick batter -- there are many bundt cake recipes on the internet. If you use a cake mix without altering it for the bundt pan, some detail will be lost - so check for cake mix adaptations on the internet. It looks spectacular with just a little powdered sugar dusted over the details. I use these style pans all the time (at least weekly) and have never had a cake stick -- but those two steps at the beginning and end of the process will help success.

  • Smooth sides make food release quick and easy; raised edges contain batter
  • Heavyweight frame with room for grasping
  • Each cavity measures 2-1/2 by 3-3/8 by 1-1/2 inches; Recipe included
  • customer review: This pan can save a lot of time (and money) if you want to bake mini dessert breads (pumpkin, banana, even brownies) to give away for gifts. I bought two. Baking goodies for Christmas to give to work friends, teachers, or church friends is economical, thoughtful gift-giving. Mini dessert breads are also good for party favors, Valentine's Day, tea parties, or children's birthday parties! This pan works well if you THOROUGHLY grease it with margarine. I use saran wrap to grease soft margarine in the nine cavities of the pan to ensure easy release of the baked mini breads. But it is a pain in the a-- to wash afterwards. But the mini breads are great to give as gifts, maybe with a box of tea bags or a bag of special coffee even.

    Chicago Metallic Maryann Cake Pan

    $20 $17.99
  • Combines the durability, strength and superior heat conduction of steel with the tough corrosion-resistance of aluminum alloy
  • Non-stick coating for easy release
  • Dishwasher safe
  • customer review: My cook's heart was all a-flutter when I saw this cake pan I'd never heard of before (not even Martha has it listed). I did not make a mistake in adding it to my working collection. This well-crafted cake pan is a reprise of the Maryann cake pan style that was very popular in the beginning of the last century. In the 1950's, the style enjoyed another run and cake mix manufacturers sold a mix kit that included the pan. There are people with old clipped recipes searching for these pans they remember from their mother's kitchens, but today it is a little difficult to find recipes specific to the pan, although a chocolate mousse cake recipe is included. A chocolate cherry cake, similar to a Black Forest Torte, was apparently the 1950's package cake and many people still remember it. But don't let the recipe availability stop you. This is a finely crafted pan for modern times, non-stick and dishwasher safe. The edges are gracefully fluted and, of course, the real draw is the recessed center I was after. I like to fill the recessed area with fresh fruit, with or without a glaze. When fruits come from my own tree, this is the fitting design to properly showcase them. Six cups of batter fills it 3/4 full. Eight cups fills it up, but that would overflow with a standard batter. A genoise-style cake would also be a good choice. The cake serves 16, so it makes a nice and attractive appearance at pot-lucks as well as the finale to a fine dinner party. When I located this pan, I was actually after a shallower version to make a German style dessert shell I used to purchase for quick desserts and can't find anymore. For that purpose, I now know a flan pan will do. In Germany, the more shallow pan is called an "Obsttortenform", ("fruit cake form"), because the flans there are almost always topped with fruit. It's also called in German "Tortenboden" (meaning "cake bottom".) Amazon has this style, too, as a flan pan. It takes less batter. Searching the German words will turn up a few more recipes for both. If any of you have recipes for the Maryann pan, please post them on recipe websites for the benefit of all. This little charmer should be due for a nice comeback!

NordicWare 59437 Platinum Collection Tea Cake and Candy Mold

    by NordicWare (59437)

    $37 $27.95
  • Cast aluminum
  • Nonstick material
  • Fine details
  • Even baking
  • Makes fun, intricate cakes or candies
  • customer review: I didn't realize this was considered a candy mold also but I can certainly see why it would ill-suited for that purpose.

As a mini bundt cake pan though, it seems perfect to me. I've made Mexican chocolate cake (from The Pastry Queen cookbook) dusted with X sugar and they looked perfect. I've also made red velvet cake and pumpkin muffins in this pan. I used Baker's Joy. I had absolutely no problem with getting them out with just the flick of a knife along the side of each one, and they had perfect definition. This pan makes great little two bite cakes/muffins which are easy for taking to work or anywhere you lack plates & forks for eating cake.
