Definitely worth the price - you won't be disappointed. | Microplane Fine Graterby Microplane (35002) customer review: These Microplane graters are wonderful, but I recommend the Professional versions instead. If you use your graters a lot, the plastic edges will eventually break, so spend the extra few dollars and get the steel edged Professional versions to start with. I just replaced two graters myself because they broke. | Microplane Coarse Graterby Microplane (35001) ![]() customer review: I've had this grater for about a year now. Overall a great product that does what it's suppose to do. It has remained very sharp and easy to maintain. I just throw it in the top rack of the diswasher. One tip...the handle is just a blow molded rubber slid on to the plastic body, so it will fill up with water in the D/W if you have the grater face upwards. If you forget it will remind you when you go to use it by soaking your shirt sleave. Do it once and you won't forget again :-) | Peugeot Tidore Nutmeg Shaver, Clear Acrylic 4-1/4-inchesby Peugeot (PM19501) ![]() customer review: I use this nutmeg grater all the time. The only thing I wish was different is that it is too hard for me to open the top to put in another nutmeg. I just can't get a good grip on it. I have to ask my husband to open it for me. | Microplane 39005 Rotary Grater with Coarse and Fine Bladesby Microplane (39005) ![]() customer review: I'm surprised to read the negative reviews about durability. I've had mine for a couple of years and have had no issues with it's construction. The handle can be moved from side-to-side to allow for left-handed or right-handed use. The direction of the grating drums can be used clock-wise or counter-clockwise.
| My biggest problem is finding all the parts after someone else has put away the dishes. Generally I like to put all the parts in the same place, but occasionally they get separated and only reunited after an intensive search of drawers and cupboards. Red might be a good color choice. I have mostly used the fine drum for grating almonds. It's awesome. The food processor leaves them too coarse and crunchy. The meat grinder turns them to almond butter. The microplane gives me fine light fluffy shavings without grating my fingernails into the mixture. I also use this drum for Parmesan or other hard cheeses. Recently I used the coarse drum for mozzarella. I grated it right onto my lasagna layers. This was the easiest mozzarella grate I've ever done... without getting out the grating disks for my food processor. Yes, it did leave a bit ungrated in the grater, but the rest of it was perfect, and I ate the ungrated part. On my wish list now is an electric version so that I can grate my almonds more quickly. It does take a lot of grating to get a pound of almond meal. Microplane Spice Graterby Microplane (40016) ![]() customer review: we should have had this years ago as it would have saved me getting cut fingers!!! I love it, easy to use and your fingers never touch the surface of the microplane, nutmeg glides over it and its perfect!!i would highly recommend this to anyone who grates their own spices. | Norpro Nutmeg/Ginger Graterby Norpro (321) ![]() customer review: I didn't buy this thing to grate nutmegs, as I inherited two old-fashioned nutmeg graters from my grandmother. I needed to grate ginger, and this clearly says it will. Well, it won't. In fact, it's just about worthless for that purpose. It makes a nearly unusable mess out of the ginger root, which of course is a somewhat juicy, quite fibrous affair. Then you need a special, dedicated brush to get the nearly unusable mess off the dang thing. Very little of the mess came through to the backside where it could have been scooped off. Instead it all entwined with the teeth on the front.
| Now this thing is heavyweight and nicely machined as well as nice looking. The compartment cover fits is a very satsfying way. However, the engineering is horrible. First of all, one doesn't store even a dry nutmeg in an all-but-airtight compartment. Grandma's graters have storage compartments, too, which allow the free flow of air. But more importantly, it won't grate ginger properly. What good is all the beauty if function is missing? Of course, it may very well do your nutmeg OK for all I know. (The fine print also mentions garlic, citrus and chocolate.) I can't return it to Amazon because I got it on one of those 4 for 3 deals so would lose more than I'd gain. I put it right back in its package and hope I need to give a gift to someone who needs a nutmeg grater. Cuisipro 9.5-Inch 6 Sided Graterby Cuisipro (746124) ![]() customer review: Not bulky, handy, the stainless steel cover from the bottom helps collecting the grated food | Oxo SteeL Graterby OXO (50581) ![]() customer review: I got tired of dragging out my trusty box grater to do small jobs like grating nutmeg, ginger or Parmagiana Reggiano so I picked this little gem up. It feels good in your hand (no surprise there...it's what Oxo is known for)is well-made and cleans up beautifully...every time. It is so easy now just to grab this guy and grate what needs to be grated that I find I am using whole spices more and more. Grab yourself one of these...you'll love it! | Microplane Spice Style Graterby Microplane (35025) ![]() customer review: We love our microplane grater - it's actually much better than we expected. We didn't even know we needed one, but we use it for everything - nutmeg, cinnimon, other spices, and it zests a lemon perfectly with no pith. Now our very favorite thing to do is to add a little nuttiness to baked goodies by microplaning a walnut or two on top of low-fat baked goods to add a tiny bit of richness - it comes out as a fine dusting of nuts, perfect for topping muffins and whatnot. And we've never nicked our fingers using it, even when we miss. Really great, much better than I expected. | Peugeot Amboine Nutmeg Grinder, Clr/Ntl Wood 4-1/4-inchesby Peugeot (PM19488) ![]() customer review: The grinder is very easy to use, and gives even grindings of nutmeg. It is just the quality you would expect from Peugeot. I own the pepper and salt mill from Peugeot, and I am very pleased with them. Therefore buying the Peugeot nutmeg grinder was not a difficult decision. This is the one. Even my 5 year old loves to use it to put some nutmeg over his mashed potatoes. | Cuisipro Stainless Steel Coarse Graterby Cuisipro (746160) ![]() customer review: Really, this is the best grater I've ever used. I only wish that their finer-grain graters had the same "louver" design, rather than the shred-your-skin-if-you-even-look-at-it "split dimple" design.
| It's also bullet-proof. I intend to leave this to my grandkids in my will. Peugeot Vendome Wet Salt Mill, Chocolate 5-1/2 inchesby Peugeot (PM19730) ![]() customer review: This item is a complete waste of money. Grind away and all you will get is a sore wrist. Might be just the ticket for someone that needs to cut ALL of the salt from their diet. | Cuisipro 11.5-Inch Extra Coarse Graterby Cuisipro (746165) ![]() Every household needs a kitchen grater or two, and these durable devices from Cuisipro have the strength and sharpness to beat out competitors. 18/10 stainless-steel construction and a heavy-gauge, wire frame won’t bend or buckle. Grating surfaces ranging from fine to course and single slices are also available from Cuisipro. Measuring 11-1/2 by 4-1/2 inches overall, this dishwasher-safe gadget comes with a limited, lifetime warranty. -- Amy Arnold | Progressive International ProGrip Ultra Medium Tower Graterby Progressive International (GT-7426) ![]() customer review: 1) The shape makes it unstable on your counter so it moves around a lot. | 2) small surface area, so it takes a lot longer to grate something 3) impossible to clean on the inside up at the top, making it a safety hazard 4) But, hey, it sure looks cool, huh? Forget it; get one of those cheap, four-sided graters from the supermarket. Cuisipro 11.5-Inch Medium Graterby Cuisipro (746161) ![]() customer review: You wouldn't think there would be much excitement in getting a new cheese grater, but if there is one out there to get excited about, this is it. This thing has an exceptionally sturdy frame that looks like it could be used as a car ramp for doing oil changes. The grater surface is also heavy duty, and the holes look precisely formed and have sharp edges. It has a nice looking finish, and the rubber feet seem like they will hold up well. Besides grating cheese, my wife likes the coarseness for grating zucchini and carrots for baking. We have only had it for a week, but I expect it to last much longer than any previous graters we have had. We bought the medium one to start with, but will now go back and buy the coarse one. | Heavy Duty Nutmeg Grater, Tin Steel, 5.5 Inch![]() A perfect grater to grate all of your fresh spices! High durability, this grater will last a lifetime. | Oxo Good Grips Multi Graterby OXO (32780) ![]() customer review: I was disappointed that this grater only lasted for a couple of weeks. At first it broke into two pieces, so I could only use one half (even when it stood upright as pictured, it never did stay open or grip the counter- it was never stable, and either closed or fell down while grating). Then I was left with a flat grater that was difficult to use. The piece that was left cracked on the corners, and broke apart within a couple of uses. Usually Oxo makes great products. This is not a good product. Save your money and buy a different model grater. You will be happier with an all metal model for sure! | Fox Run Nutmeg Graterby Fox Run Craftsmen $3.25 customer review: This hard to find item works great and made a wonderful gift for the gourmet on my list. | Cuisipro Nutmeg/Cinnamon Graterby Cuisipro (747062) ![]() customer review: The previous reviewer is right that you don't really need the little container. But I find it convenient for holding the spice in an enclosed space and then pulling what I want from it. Also, the container is much easier to use than some other nutmeg graters that have containers attached. And for the record, I have had mine for several years and the plastic lid has not broken at the hinge or anywhere else. And the blades are nice and sharp. So, while cheaper graters are available, I really like this little gadget. | | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
