![]() | | customer review: I used this for the first time for Thanksgiving 2008 and it worked just great! It squeezes out a little potato around the top when you squeeze, but that doesn't bother me. You can only squeeze one medium to large potato at a time due to a small basket; but if it was much bigger, it would be hard to squeeze it shut. It does take a little arm strength, but put in less potato if you can't squeeze it with a large potato in it. If it bothers you to do a little at a time, you would probably want to buy an electronic grinder or such instead of this. My family loved the mashed potatoes and I am very happy with it, especially for the price. | Oxo Good Grips Wire Potato Masherby OXO (26291) ![]() customer review: It did the job, but takes more time to to mash up potatoes than my old Tupperware masher. Wish I bought the new Oxo masher, that has a flat grill surface, I think it would do a better job.
| I like to use this because it feels good, solid when mashing. Like all Oxo products, I think its because of the good-sized, soft handle, and sturdy construction. Browne Cuisipro Stainless-Steel Potato Ricerby Cuisipro (746192) ![]() customer review: I just heard about this potato ricer last week and asked my husband to get one for me for my birthday....he loves mashed potatoes, I hate peeling and mashing them... It came yesterday, I used it today for the first time...AMAZING! Why haven't I ever heard about this before? After 26 years of marriage and complaining about having to make mashed potatoes...It was so easy to use, clean up and even tasted better than mashing! WOW! | Oxo Good Grips Smooth Potato Masherby OXO (34581) ![]() customer review: I bought this potato masher because of the positive reviews in the Cook's Illustrated magazine. Well, it's mashing better than spoon and fork, but it still leaves more lumps than I would like. Handle is a bit too short for me.
| It's not especially better than any other average potato masher. I'm planning to get a potato ricer and don't think I'll be using this tool much after that. WMF Profi Plus 11-1/4-Inch Stainless Steel Potato Masherby WMF (1871386030) ![]() $19.9 customer review: I bought this masher because it was recommended by Cook's Illustrated magazine and because I needed a potato masher. It works as advertised, is very strong and has a loop on the end so I can hang it on my pot rack. Just what I was looking for.

Very ergonomic and easy to clean. | Jaccard 45 Knife Meat Tenderizerby Harold Imports (3334) ![]() customer review: After using this tenderizer for a few months, I have included it on my list of kitchen essentials. I have had other knife type meat tenderizers that were hard to clean, easy to rust, and not as efficient as this one. I like this one because it has thin flat blades as opposed to some that have the thicker prong type blades that basically poke holes in the meat. Norpro Professional Meat Tenderizer I thought it was doing a decent job until I switched over to this one. The thin blades on the Jaccard slices through the tough connective tissue rather than poking holes in it. The Jaccard also covers more surface area than the other tenderizer. It seems that by having the three rows of blades and slicing through the tissue, the meat doesn't draw up and become tough and chewy.
| For my first use, I put this to the test on 1 1/4 inch bone-in pork loin chops (see comments for recipe). I tenderized twice on both sides and put them in the brine for a couple of hours as opposed to the 4 listed in the recipe and grilled them. They were superb! Tender and juicy without any chewy pieces in the center. I was really impressed with the results. I gave the recipe to one of my guests who tried it and said they turned out good but weren't as tender as the ones I did! I guess I should have told him to buy and use one of these first! I have also used this on split chicken breasts. I normally cut them in half lengthwise and then pound them down a bit to guarantee tenderness. I decided to try the tenderizer on them instead of cutting and pounding, and it worked like a charm. I seasoned them first with salt/pepper and a little onion powder. Then I rubbed them with an oil/garlic/chopped fresh sage mixture and let them sit for about 15 minutes before coating them with bread crumbs to oven fry. They were tender from the thickest part down to the tip, seasoned all the way through, and it didn't take that long to cook them all the way through. To clean the tenderizer, I took it apart and hand washed it with my nylon kitchen brush and set it on the counter to dry. It cleaned up easily and the blades didn't rust. The case that comes with the tenderizer is a plus as it provides protection for the blades. The Jaccard Meat Tenderizer is an excellent tool to have, and it gets my recommendation. Kyocera Ceramic Fine Mill, Black Topby Kyocera (CM-10-BK) customer review: My old pepper grinder was giving me huge chunks of cracked pepper. After reading other reviews I thought I would make this my first ceramic grinder, and I'm very happy I did. The pepper comes out in a nice spray and at a good table grade medium grind. The top screws on securely and the glass container has a frosted finish that provides grip when grinding. A wonderful product. I highly recommend it. | Oxo Good Grips Nylon Potato Masherby OXO (77891) ![]() customer review: I love to make home style mashed potatoes using red potatoes and leaving the skin on. This masher worked great for me. I found it durable. The only complaint here that is of concern is cleaning. I really haven't had any problems cleaning it. I wash by hand with a small brush to get in between the tines and a spray of water it has come clean easily so far. Perhaps with a dishwasher it is more difficult. I imagine the stainless wire one would be easier to clean but I don't feel like anything really stuck to the nylon tines that caused me any grief. | MIU Stainless-Steel Tomato/Vegetable Millby MIU France ![]() customer review: I don't understand these negative reviews.......I got one of these mills, and it works beautifully. When you insert the blade assembly, put the pin in the center hole, insert one hook in the side tab, and then hook the second tab into place. You use less force, and get more leverage. It's so easy to do, my 5 year old son could do it!!!!
| Don't let the negative reviews bother you about this product. I didn't, and I got a wonderful piece of equipment that should last for many years in my kitchen. BTW-I'm a former chef that has used all the commercially available equipment in a variety of kitchens, and this is a very easy to use/clean piece of equipment. Buy one, and you won't be disappointed (unless you're a total spaz!!) RSVP International JRSP Endurance Jumbo Potato Ricer 11.75-in.by R.S.V.P. ![]() customer review: Wow this ricer seems big, but I riced a whole pot of potatoes in about 3 minutes---left the skins on and quartered them. Even though in the description it says it is. I ordered this item and never even took it out of the box. After reading that it was made in China I returned it. The inability to find things made in the USA anymore is very disappointing. | Norpro Hand-Operated 2-Speed Salsa Maker and Mini-Food Processorby Norpro (582) ![]() customer review: This was the worst product i have ever bought.
