![]() | | customer review: This Apple and Potato Peeler is fun to work with. I wanted to make Apple Dumplings for the holidays and my friend lent me hers. After using it, I ordered one for myself the same day. It is my new fun gadget for the kitchen. It peels, cores, and spiral cuts the apples in a moment which prepared the apples perfectly for the dumplings or apple pie. It's great for scalloped potatoes also. It adheres to the counter by suction and holds tight. After using, just rinse. It's constructed well and will last for a long time. My friend has had hers for 15 years or so. I have already used it many times. You will love it. | Oxo Good Grips i-Series Swivel Peelerby OXO (1057966) ![]() customer review: This peeler has a comfortable grip, slices thinly enough that you are not wasting vegetable, and even has a notcher to remove potato eyes! Very happy with my purchase. | Oxo Good Grips i-Series Y Peelerby OXO (1057967) ![]() customer review: This is a very good quality peeler. I am very picky and this one is very well made and it peels very well. I love the grip and it is very comfy to hold. | Oxo Good Grips Corn Stripperby OXO (1128000) ![]() customer review: I had gone to Williams Sonoma to get their corn stripper only to find they were out and they suggested this one to me and its even better than the WS one I was going to get. I make a recipe that requires fresh corn on the cob and you have to strip it from the cob- I can't tell you how quick and handy this item makes that. You still have to be careful as you can cut yourself if you use it in the wrong direction, but its pretty fool proof and holds 1/2 cup or so of corn at a time. The best part is, you can strip several corn rows at a time and go back over it if you don't get it all. I love any gadget that makes my cooking a little easier. With this thing, I make fresh sauteed corn all the time. Great item! | Oxo Good Grips Swivel Peelerby OXO (20081) customer review: This is a wonderful peeler. I finally had to replace my old Ecko stainless steel peeler which I had used for over 30 years and I still have. However, I needed a more ergonomic type of handle. I tried other peelers with comfort-grip type handles, but they were never sharp enough to do the job quickly. I've been using this peeler for at least 3 or 4 years and it still works great. You can't go wrong with this tool. | Starfrit 93013 Pro-Apple Peeler with bonus core ejector and slicerby Feature Products, Inc (93013-006-0000) ![]() customer review: I bought this for my 6+ year old daughter, because she would not eat apples unless they were pealed. My husband and I were sick of pealing them for her every day. Out of the box she was able to do it, and it works even easier than I thought it would. She even makes the apples into thin slices, and eats them that way. | Progressive International Apple Peeler and Corerby Progressive International (GAPC-240) ![]() customer review: Easy purchase and fast delivery. A friend showed us how easy the apple peeler worked. Although we did purchase at end of apple season. | Oxo Good Grips Serrated Peelerby OXO (1061242) ![]() customer review: Very good quality, sharp peeler.
| Good enough even for ripe fruits! This is the best peeler I've owned! Kyocera Perfect Peeler, Redby Kyocera (CP-20 RD) ![]() customer review: We've had one of these peelers for over a year, and it's the best peeler we've ever owned.
| EXCEPT... The two little black plastic pins that hold the blade into the handle are the Achilles heel of this product. One is smaller than the other and it recently broke. I've heard this same problem from other owners of this product. I'm waiting for a response from Kyocera as to whether this is covered under their 5 year warranty. But frankly, something like this shouldn't be happening, and it's a serious design flaw on an otherwise outstanding product. === Update to the previous review. I finally (things were kind of busy for them the Monday after Thanksgiving!) got a call back from Kyocera, they took my name and address, and immediately sent me a replacement for the broken part. The replacement arrived today, UPS 2 day delivery! I was very impressed with the speed and responsiveness of their customer service. It definitely makes a difference in whether I deal with a company in the future. Based on this, I'd like to change my rating from 2 stars to 5 stars, but it doesn't seem to want to let me do that. The bristles are too soft and become deformed. I last used it when I steamed cleaned my barbeque grill and then tossed it. | Hoffritz Stainless-Steel Vegetable Peelerby Hoffritz (HF85041) ![]() customer review: I actually found that this peeler was quite large and awkward to hold in my hand. The handle would've been better with a rubber grip, too. I'm really surprised that so many people found this peeler so easy to hold, but maybe it's because I have small hands. I gave it three stars, though, because the blade IS really nice and sharp especially compared to the other similarly priced peelers I've purchased at WalMart. | KitchenAid Cook For The Cure Euro Peeler, Pinkby KitchenAid (KG112PK) customer review: Having bought EVERY pink item in the last several months. I was dismayed to discover that none of the money was going to CFTC just because I had bought them. Seems that in VERY small print on the hang tag, there is a disclaimer. You have to go online and register the product. Only then will KitchenAid fork over the Money...... Yes for something as small as a set of measuring cups or a knife, you have to register.
| Of course I discovered this long after I had thrown away the hang tags. So I went to LOWES and wrote down the UPC from the items they still stocked there. They were out of several items I have and didn't know if they were getting any more. So now I am off to the mall kitchen store. Wish me luck. Oh and SAVE those hang tags. It worked the first 3 seconds of operation, then failed to peel anymore. I feel like I am being extremely generous by rating this item with 1 star. | Oxo Good Grips Y Peelerby OXO (21081) ![]() customer review: I've been using this peeler for about 2.5 months. At the beginning it was the greatest peeler I've ever owned. I mean I could peel through veggie skins like butter but within a couple of months the peeler stopped becoming so sharp. Now I have a hard time peeling through ginger skins. This peeler was mostly use for potatoes and sometimes gingers. I didn't peel anything hard with it but it still lost it's sharpness. | Chef'n PP-120CH Palm Peeler, Cherryby Chef'n (PP-120CH) ![]() customer review: I bought one, thinking I would just be adding to our growing collection of peelers. It was very easy to use and didn't bother my hands like other peelers do. Best of all, I didn't "peel" the skin off my finger like I usually do! Of course the real test will come during the holidays and peeling potatoes in 10# lots...... I just bought 8 more for gifts! With the 4-for-3 and free postage -- it was like getting 2 free! | J.A. | This peeler is great!! It is very sharp, and also is very easy to clean. Best thing: it works for those of us who are left-handed! Prepara Trio-Tri Blade Peelerby Prepara (PP01-PE100) $14.95 | customer review: This peeler is easy to use and peels very well. At first I thought it was going to be impossible to clean, because it came without any instructions at all, and the method for removing the blade cartridge from the handle is not instantly obvious. However, you can do this, and even remove the blades from the blade cartridge and wash them separately. Because there are three blades that can retract into the handle, the handle is big (about 5" circumference, which makes a diameter of about 1.5" I think). This is good when you are using it, and less good when you are storing it.
| The only reason I haven't given it 5 stars is that cleaning is still a bit of a pain. If you are peeling anything juicy (even, for example, carrots) the juice can get into the handle and so forth, so you have to clean up the whole thing inside and out each time you use it. When opposed to a normal peeler where you just have to wash one blade and a simple handle, it is a bit of extra work. Of course if you're putting it in the dishwasher it probably doesn't matter, but I'm in an apartment and my discwasher isn't entirely reliable, so I'm washing it by hand. BTW, in case you are interested, here is the method for removing the blade cartridge from the handle. It will be easier if I explain how you change blades first. To position a blade for use, you turn the bottom of the handle until the picture of the blade you want is directly below the slide button. Then you slide the button toward the tip of the peeler to expose the blade. To change blades, you push the slide button back toward the end of the handle, turn the handle two "thunks" until the next blade is in position, and then push up the slide button. To REMOVE the cartridge with all three blades in it, you stop at the "thunk" in between two of the blades, and then push the slide button an extra bit further toward the end of the handle. (The button won't go all the way to the bottom unless you are between the blades.) Then the cartridge pops right out. It's not rocket science, but it's not obvious right away. In this case a picture (or rather a diagram) really would be worth a lot of words.
