Kuhn Rikon Epicurean Garlic Press

by Kuhn Rikon (2315)

$40 $39.95
  • Heavy-duty stainless steel
  • Comfort designed
  • Easy to clean
  • Dishwasher safe
  • customer review: I bought this garlic press after seeing it on America's Test Kitchen but I was a little concerned about spending $40 on a garlic press. Now that I have it I am convinced that it is worth every penny. This press if very well made, heavy duty stainless steel, and cleans up easily. I have run mine through the dishwasher many times with no ill effects. The only concern I have about this press is that you have to be careful when sqeezing it that you don't get the palm of you hand in between the two handles when they come together. I did this once and it was not pleasant. Other than that you can stuff this thing full of garlic and it has plenty of leverage to mince it. When you or done just open it up and run it under some water and the little bit of garlic that remains easily comes off the inside of the mincer. I highly recommend this to anyone who likes to mince their own garlic rather than use jarred garlic.

    $16.99 $11.99
  • It is self-cleaning
  • Chrome plated
  • It is dishwasher safe

  • customer review: I have bought a few very cheap garlic presses and have been very disappointed.
This press worked great for me. I have strong hands and I found I was able to fit up to 3 cloves in it but find it works better with one or two max. It cleans up well and I haven't had any problems with the rubber cleaning part coming loose.
I do hand wash the unit. Perhaps that is the issue some had with it.

I am impressed. It holds a lot more garlic than I used to buy. Notice that I said, "Used to buy?" I have found myself brave enough to buy a lot of garlic now, knowing that it'll be there to use whenever I need it to be. The keeper's very pretty and I wish it came in other colors for gifts for people with varied kitchen color schemes.

Unfortunately, I have TWICE ordered this item from Target and TWICE they have shipped me the wrong item. If this is no longer available, they should no longer offer it for sale. In the meantime, I have had to pay two shipping charges and two restocking fees for the privilege of receiving and returning an item I did not order.

MIU Polished Stainless-Steel Jumbo Garlic Press

    by MIU (90016)

    $19.99 $13.99
  • Ergonomic handle.
  • Great for pressing large pieces of garlic
  • Dishwasher safe.
  • Polished stainless steel finish.
  • 8" x 2" x 3"
  • customer review: This garlic press gets the job done with little fuss and no fancy gadgetry to go wrong. First and most importantly, it's easy to clean. The barrel is large and the plunger moves out of the way nicely to allow you to scoop out the garlic skin easily. The barrel is large enough to allow you to crush several bulbs at once. The handles are long so that you have enough leverage to be effective (a problem with my last garlic press that I broke because it took so much pressure to squeeze). Lastly, unlike some other garlic presses, this is stainless, so it goes right into the dishwasher. Seems like a great chef quality tool that makes all other presses a waste of money.

    KitchenAid Garlic Press, Black

  • Crushes garlic and shallots
  • Extracts pulp and juice from peeled garlic
  • Nonstick for easy cleanup, cleaning brush included
  • Dishwasher safe
  • One year hassle-free warranty plus lifetime limited warranty
  • customer review: I purchased this in spite of some bad reviews and haven't looked back! This is durable, easy to clean and does a great job. I occasionally crush two cloves of garlic at once with no problems.

For those with issues of the plastic cracking, if the presser isn't lined up just right with the hole - the presser is not fixed and can move and get caught on the edge - if you push hard enough it will break. That's the only thing to watch out for, but that's a user thing and not the press itself.

It is so fast an easy no one would ever go back to the one clove squeezer type devices again. It is good for one clove or about 8 - 10 at a time. Clean up is easy and dishwasher safe. I can't even believe that people buy those archaic squeezer presses!

Zak Designs E-Z-Rol Garlic Peeler, Red

    by Zak Designs

    $8.79
  • Easy to peel garlic in seconds
  • Flexible rubber
  • No garlic odor on your hands
  • Dishwasher safe
  • Made in USA
  • customer review: If you buy refrigerated jars of chopped garlic because you are always in a hurry and can't face the thought of peeling fresh garlic, this garlic peeler is a terrific alternative to that.

Nothing could be easier to use. Just open the plastic tube, take out the 5" long sleeve, which feels like rubber, and pop an un-peeled garlic clove inside the sleeve. Roll the tube back and forth a few times with the palm of your hand, feeling the garlic, and then shake out a fully peeled garlic clove. The skin stays inside the sleeve. Rinse the sleeve or put it in the top rack of your dishwasher, and you are done--a whole garlic clove rubbed clean of dry, tissue-thin skin--no mess, no fuss.

I have given at least a dozen of these as small gifts and stocking presents, and they are a perfect (and useful hostess present. Everyone loves them. I haven't had to buy a jar of refrigerated chopped garlic in the two years that I've had this gadget. n Mary Whipple

    $12.95 $11.5
  • Handle is removable for easy cleanup
  • Blade is made of stainless steel
  • Makes a great gift for the resident chef
  • Dishwasher safe
  • Measures 3.5 x 2.75 x 7.5
  • customer review: Unlike the other reviewers, I really liked this little device. I had no trouble getting to create thin slices of garlic, quickly and easily. I found that if I just turned the slicing drum rapidly, the garlic fed in fine.

Even better, I can cut a slap of romano peccorino or Parmesan cheese and use the device to create very nice shavings of the cheese. Might even work with chocolate, though I've not yet tried that.

    I'm happy with it.
